Premise
Few congregations can add staff for the sole purpose of beginning and growing Small Groups. Without a designated staff person, this ministry has a limited chance for success. SDG can provide the expertise and time to design and implement a successful Small Group Ministry in your congregation.
Purpose
The purpose of SDG's Small Group Ministry management service is to allow congregations with limited resources to begin and grow this important tool for building community within the Body of Christ.
Process
SDG begins by determining the feasibility for small groups within the congregation. We look for a "person of passion" for small group leadership, and their willingness to focus on this ministry. We help the congregation determine the nature of the small groups and whether they want to become a church with small groups or a church of small groups. Then, we slowly develop the leadership for a few groups before launching a congregation-wide implementation. As the ministry grows, we provide materials and training for future small group leaders and help leaders and pastors understand potential pitfalls and mistakes to avoid. Once the small groups are established and flourishing, it is our intent to disengage from the congregation, allowing them to lead the ministry themselves.
